S&P Global acquires OpenZeppelin for blockchain security
S&P Global acquires OpenZeppelin, a blockchain security leader. OpenZeppelin’s open-source library has secured $37T+ in transfers and will remain independent, enhancing S&P’s digital asset security.
S&P Global has announced its acquisition of OpenZeppelin, a prominent blockchain security company founded in 2015. OpenZeppelin is best known for its widely used open-source smart contract library, which has facilitated over $37 trillion in value transfers, supporting major stablecoins and tokenized funds. The company has performed more than 900 security audits and identified over 10,000 vulnerabilities across various blockchain projects. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, OpenZeppelin will continue to operate independently within S&P Global, and its contract library will remain open-source. This acquisition is set to strengthen S&P Global’s digital asset risk assessment and security services, underlining the growing importance of advanced security solutions as the financial sector increasingly adopts blockchain technology.
