Hanwha unveils tokenized securities platform on Avalanche
Hanwha launched a tokenized securities platform on Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu, preparing for South Korea’s 2027 regulatory changes recognizing blockchain-based securities.
Hanwha Investment & Securities, in partnership with FairSquare Lab, has developed a multi-network tokenized securities platform built primarily on Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu. The platform, completed in early 2026, is designed to operate across several blockchain networks, supporting the trading of tokenized assets such as money market funds, bonds, unlisted stocks, and fractional investment securities. This initiative anticipates South Korea’s regulatory amendments, effective February 4, 2027, which will formally recognize distributed ledgers as securities registers and integrate security tokens into the capital markets framework. The Financial Services Commission plans a phased rollout, starting with institutional products and potentially expanding to all publicly offered securities. Hanwha’s Digital Asset Platform (DAP) will initially target high-net-worth individuals and family offices, with plans to expand internationally before launching domestically. Hanwha Group has also strengthened its digital securities presence by acquiring a significant stake in Securitize and investing further in digital assets.
