Metaplanet acquires Super League for US Bitcoin treasury

Metaplanet will invest 2,100 BTC and $2.5M to acquire 95.7% of Super League, renaming it Superplanet as a U.S. Bitcoin treasury. The $134.6M deal is set to close in late 2026.

Metaplanet has announced a significant investment, acquiring approximately 95.7% of Nasdaq-listed Super League Enterprise. The deal involves 2,100 Bitcoin and $2.5 million in cash, totaling around $134.6 million. Upon completion, Super League will be renamed Superplanet and will operate as a dedicated U.S. Bitcoin treasury platform under the ticker SUPA. Metaplanet will receive 44,859,400 shares at $3.00 each, along with preferred stock and warrants, and will appoint five out of nine board directors. The shares will be locked for five years. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals in both the U.S. and Japan. Currently, Metaplanet holds 43,000 BTC, ranking among the largest corporate Bitcoin holders globally. This move marks a major cross-border consolidation in the Bitcoin sector, with Super League’s core business remaining intact and Metaplanet providing balance-sheet support and capital-markets expertise. The announcement triggered a sharp rise in both SLE and Metaplanet stock prices.
