Cypherpunk Technologies swings to profit on Zcash gains
Cypherpunk Technologies posted a $39.4M Q2 2026 profit, mainly from Zcash gains. The firm holds 323,394.38 ZEC and is pivoting to oncology drug development, seeking funding for Sirexatamab.
Cypherpunk Technologies reported a net profit of $39.4 million in Q2 2026, reversing a net loss of $16.6 million from the previous year. This turnaround was primarily driven by a $46 million unrealized gain from the appreciation of its Zcash (ZEC) holdings, as ZEC's price surged from $243.35 to $400.09. As of August 11, the company held 323,394.38 ZEC, representing about 1.92% of Zcash's circulating supply, valued at approximately $129 million. Despite the strong headline profit, Cypherpunk Technologies recorded an operating loss of $4.69 million. Research and development expenses dropped significantly following the conclusion of clinical trials, while general and administrative costs rose, mainly due to increased share-based compensation. The company announced a strategic shift towards oncology drug development after a net loss of $37.8 million in H1 2026. The future of its drug candidate, Sirexatamab, depends on securing additional funding. Cypherpunk also welcomed Dev Ojha as an adviser and remains committed to supporting privacy technology and Zcash infrastructure.
