BNB overtakes Ethereum in Grayscale’s fund rebalance
Grayscale’s Q2 2026 rebalance made BNB the top holding in its Smart Contract Fund at 30.6%, overtaking Ethereum and Solana. Cardano’s share dropped sharply, and other funds saw allocation changes reflecting market trends.
Grayscale Investments has completed its Q2 2026 rebalance, making BNB the largest holding in its Smart Contract Fund at 30.6%. This move puts BNB ahead of Ethereum (29.47%) and Solana (29.15%), signaling a notable shift in the fund’s asset allocation. The change, announced on August 5 and effective August 3, involved selling portions of existing assets to increase BNB exposure. Cardano’s share dropped significantly from 17.96% to 4.88%, while Hedera, Avalanche, and Sui also saw reduced allocations. The rebalance followed the CoinDesk Smart Contract Platform Select Capped Index methodology and does not imply a forecast that BNB will outperform other assets. In other Grayscale funds, Uniswap remains the largest holding in the DeFi Fund, with Ondo’s share increasing. Near Protocol now leads the Decentralized AI Fund. These adjustments reflect evolving market conditions and shifting investor sentiment among major cryptocurrencies.
