Hashdex to liquidate Bitcoin DEFI ETF due to low demand
Hashdex will liquidate its Bitcoin DEFI ETF, citing low demand. The $14.7M fund will close on August 17, with shareholders receiving cash payments by the end of August.
Hashdex has announced the closure and liquidation of its Bitcoin DEFI ETF, listed on NYSE Arca, after the fund failed to attract sufficient assets or trading activity to remain viable. As of July 30, the ETF managed approximately $14.7 million in assets. Operations will cease after the market closes on August 17, at which point the fund will also be delisted. Shareholders are expected to receive cash payments around August 28, based on the fund’s final net asset value after selling its roughly 225 BTC and liquidating other positions. The decision to close the fund followed an analysis of liquidity, operating costs, investor interest, and alignment with Hashdex’s broader product lineup. This move reflects the ongoing consolidation in the U.S. Bitcoin ETF market, which is increasingly dominated by larger funds. Hashdex will continue to manage other products, including its NCIQ index fund, which remains active with over $200 million in assets.
