World Foundation raises $53M in WLD token sale
World Foundation raised $52.5–$53M in a WLD token sale led by Pantera Capital. Tokens are for network use only, with a one-year lockup. Funds will expand World ID technology globally.
World Foundation, the nonprofit behind the World protocol, has raised approximately $52.5–$53 million through a strategic sale of its WLD token. All tokens sold are subject to a one-year lockup period. The first close of the sale was led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto. The foundation clarified that the WLD tokens are intended solely for use within the World Network and do not represent investment interest, profit rights, or equity in Tools for Humanity. Proceeds from the sale will be used to expand World ID technology for organizations, consumers, and AI agents globally. This fundraising comes as the network marks three years of operation, shifting its focus from infrastructure building to digital identity adoption. The foundation is funding operations by selling tokens from its existing supply, with no new tokens to be minted until at least 2038.
