Circle president sells $30.8M in shares amid stock drop

Circle President Heath Tarbert sold $30.8M in CRCL shares since June 2025, as competition from OUSD led to a 24% stock drop and analysts cut Circle’s price targets and earnings forecasts.

Circle President Heath Tarbert has sold around $30.8 million worth of CRCL shares in ten separate transactions since the company’s IPO in June 2025. No purchases were recorded during this period, and some sales were made under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan. These transactions have drawn attention as Circle faces mounting challenges. The launch of competitor stablecoin Open USD (OUSD), backed by over 140 companies including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, BNY, and Coinbase, has intensified competition. As a result, CRCL’s share price has dropped 24% to $60.46, and the stock has been removed from several Russell Growth indexes. Analysts have responded by lowering price targets and earnings forecasts for Circle, citing margin pressure from OUSD’s revenue-sharing model. Despite the selloff and market concerns, Circle continues to expand its regulated infrastructure, recently securing OCC approval to establish Circle National Trust for digital asset custody.
