BNB Chain destroys $932M in 36th token burn
BNB Chain’s 36th quarterly burn destroyed 1.61M BNB ($932M), reducing supply to 133.17M. The Auto-Burn mechanism ensures transparent, predictable burns as the network targets 100M BNB.
BNB Chain has completed its 36th quarterly token burn, removing approximately 1.61 million BNB from circulation, valued at around $932 million. This event reduced the total BNB supply to about 133.17 million coins, supporting the network’s long-term deflationary strategy to reach a target supply of 100 million tokens. The burn amount is determined by an Auto-Burn mechanism, which calculates the number of tokens to destroy based on the average BNB price and the number of blocks produced during the quarter. This ensures a predictable and transparent process for all participants. Recent network upgrades have increased block production speed, prompting adjustments to burn parameters for consistency. From this quarter, burns are executed directly on the BNB Smart Chain, with tokens sent to an inaccessible address. Additionally, BNB is also burned in real time through gas fees, further reducing supply. The latest burn slightly exceeded previous estimates and follows a similar event in April, which destroyed about 1.57 million BNB.
