Trump’s crypto profits moved to traditional assets

Trump earned $1.4B from crypto in 2025, then shifted much of it into stocks and bonds. While his wealth soared, most retail investors in his crypto projects faced heavy losses.

Donald Trump generated over $1.4 billion in income from crypto-related projects in 2025, including ventures like World Liberty Financial and the Trump meme coin. While Trump and his family promoted these digital asset projects, many retail investors suffered significant losses, with some tokens losing between 80% and 98% of their value. Financial disclosures reveal that Trump reinvested a substantial portion of his crypto profits into traditional assets such as stocks and bonds. His portfolio in these areas at least quadrupled between the end of 2024 and the end of 2025, reaching values between $703 million and $2.6 billion. The filings, which use broad value ranges, do not specify exact allocations or direct transfers from crypto to traditional assets. Experts noted a contrast between Trump’s public support for crypto and his preference for placing wealth in less volatile, conventional financial instruments. The majority of retail investors in Trump-linked crypto projects experienced heavy losses, highlighting a stark divide between the profits realized by insiders and the outcomes for the general public.
