Morpho surges after Standard Chartered’s $60 target
Standard Chartered set a $60 price target for Morpho by 2030, citing its strong DeFi position. Morpho’s price surged 13% after the news, with trading volumes and open interest rising.
Standard Chartered has begun coverage of Morpho, assigning a $60 price target for its native token by 2030. This projection suggests a potential 30–33x upside from current levels. The bank’s optimistic outlook is driven by Morpho’s strong standing as a leading DeFi lending protocol and its robust infrastructure for onchain banks and asset managers. Standard Chartered anticipates a 37-fold increase in DeFi assets by 2030, expecting Morpho’s assets to grow accordingly. Following the announcement, Morpho’s price jumped over 13% to around $2.13, accompanied by a sharp rise in trading volumes and open interest. The protocol’s recent $175 million funding round and partnerships with institutional players are highlighted as key growth drivers. With over $6.5 billion in total value locked, Morpho is positioned among the top DeFi protocols. The bank believes Morpho could outperform both bitcoin and ether as DeFi and tokenization sectors expand.
