Amazon’s $48B India investment: AI, cloud, and jobs
Amazon will invest $48B in India by 2030, focusing on AI, cloud, and expansion, including $13B for AWS infrastructure, aiming to boost exports, jobs, and digital services.
Amazon is set to invest $48 billion in India by 2030, targeting artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and operational growth. This includes a newly announced $13 billion, slated for AWS data center expansion in Mumbai and Hyderabad, as well as bolstering AI infrastructure and services. The company’s ambitious plans aim to support 15 million small businesses with AI tools, enable $80 billion in ecommerce exports, provide AI learning opportunities to 4 million students, and create 3.8 million jobs by 2030. Over $21 billion of the total investment is dedicated specifically to AI and cloud infrastructure. Amazon’s expansion puts it in direct competition with tech giants like Microsoft and Google, who are also investing heavily in India’s technology sector. This move is expected to boost AWS’s revenue and strengthen Amazon’s presence in India’s digital economy.
