Project Bayani: Philippines Eyes $60B Tokenized Asset Boom by 2030
Project Bayani targets a $60B tokenized asset market in the Philippines by 2030, leveraging blockchain wallets to expand access to government bonds, equities, and mutual funds, with strong regulatory support and a focus on financial inclusion.
Project Bayani, launched by the Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX) in partnership with Saison Capital and Onigiri Capital, aims to unlock a $60 billion tokenized asset market in the Philippines by 2030. The initiative leverages blockchain-enabled mobile wallets such as GCash, Maya, and Coins.ph to provide widespread access to tokenized financial assets, including government bonds, mutual funds, and equities. The white paper projects public equities could reach $26 billion, government bonds $24 billion, and mutual funds $6 billion in tokenized form. Crypto ownership in the Philippines stands at 14%, far surpassing traditional asset participation. Tokenized government bonds are now accessible for as little as 500 pesos, promoting financial inclusion and enabling low-income and retail investors to participate. The initiative is supported by a collaborative regulatory framework, ensuring innovation and consumer protection. Project Bayani positions the Philippines as a regional leader in asset tokenization, aiming to modernize capital markets and broaden investment access for millions.
