Metaplanet acquires Siiibo for bitcoin yield products

Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed company known for its significant Bitcoin holdings, has agreed to acquire all outstanding shares of Siiibo Securities Co., Ltd. for approximately $13.11 million. This deal will make Siiibo a wholly owned subsidiary, to be renamed Metaplanet Securities Inc. The transaction is expected to close in July 2026, with the rebranding to follow by August. Siiibo Securities holds a Japanese Type I Financial Instruments Business license and operates an online platform specializing in corporate bonds. The company has supported over 40 firms and facilitated more than 100 bond issuances. Metaplanet plans to leverage Siiibo’s licenses and investor base to develop and distribute new yield products, including bitcoin-linked bonds and digital finance offerings. This move is part of Metaplanet’s long-term “Project Nova” strategy to build a bitcoin-centered financial ecosystem in Japan. The acquisition will be funded mainly through Metaplanet’s cash and borrowings, with the option to use a bitcoin-collateral credit facility of up to $500 million. As of May 31, 2026, Metaplanet held 40,177 BTC and reported a net asset value of about 457.6 billion yen.
