OKX Ventures, KIS invest $106M in Coinone for major stake

OKX Ventures and Korea Investment & Securities (KIS) are set to each invest approximately $53 million (KRW 80 billion) for 19.6% stakes in South Korean crypto exchange Coinone, pending regulatory approval. The combined $106 million (KRW 160 billion) deal includes both secondary share purchases and subscriptions for newly issued shares, significantly reshaping Coinone's ownership structure. Following the transaction, Coinone CEO Cha Myunghun will remain the largest shareholder with 27.8%, while Com2uS Holdings and affiliates will hold 25%. OKX Ventures and KIS will become joint third-largest shareholders, marking a notable shift in the company’s stakeholder landscape. This investment highlights increasing institutional interest and consolidation within South Korea's digital asset market. Coinone plans to expand into stablecoins, tokenized assets, and institutional crypto services, reflecting the growing integration between traditional finance and digital asset platforms in the region.
