Sorted Wallet raises $4.4M to boost crypto access
Sorted Wallet raised $4.4M led by Tether and Gnosis to expand its lightweight crypto wallet for basic mobile devices in emerging markets, promoting financial inclusion and digital asset access.
Sorted Wallet, a lightweight non-custodial crypto wallet for mobile devices in emerging markets, has raised $4.4 million in seed funding. The round was co-led by Tether and Gnosis, with participation from Movement Labs, Angel Invest Group, individual investors, and $1 million in strategic support from Vox Solutions. Launched in 2022, Sorted Wallet stands out for its compact 10MB app size, making it accessible on basic feature phones and for users with limited internet connectivity. The wallet supports Bitcoin, USDT, and other digital currencies, and has achieved over 500,000 downloads across 160 countries, with strong adoption in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and Madagascar. The new funding will help Sorted Wallet expand operations in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Central America, and enhance integrations with mobile operators. This investment highlights the growing trend of stablecoins moving into mainstream payment infrastructure, supporting financial inclusion for underbanked populations.
