Dartmouth endowment invests $14M in crypto ETFs
Dartmouth College’s endowment now holds $14M in crypto ETFs, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, showing rising institutional interest in digital assets.
Dartmouth College's endowment has revealed holdings of roughly $14 million in cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), according to recent filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The endowment’s crypto exposure includes $7.7 million in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, $3.5 million in the Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF, and $3.3 million in the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF. This move marks a significant diversification for Dartmouth’s $9 billion endowment, signaling increased institutional interest in digital assets. By investing in regulated ETFs, Dartmouth gains exposure to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana without directly holding the tokens. The latest disclosure also highlights a shift from January, when the endowment’s Bitcoin ETF stake was higher and it held a different Ethereum ETF. Dartmouth’s strategy reflects a broader trend among US university endowments cautiously expanding their digital asset investments through regulated vehicles.
