Wells Fargo increases Ether ETF holdings in 2026

Wells Fargo increased its Ether ETF holdings by 63.5% for ETHA and 37% for ETHW in Q1 2026, despite Ethereum’s price drop and ETF outflows.

Wells Fargo has notably increased its exposure to Ethereum-linked exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the first quarter of 2026, as revealed by recent U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings. The bank boosted its holdings in BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) by 63.5%, rising from about 672,600 shares at the end of 2025 to nearly 1.1 million shares in Q1 2026. Its position in the Bitwise Ethereum ETF (ETHW) also grew by 37%, from approximately 186,800 to over 257,000 shares. This expansion comes despite Ethereum’s price dropping 28% in Q4 2025 and another 29% in Q1 2026, alongside spot Ethereum ETFs seeing outflows of around $769 million over three months. Additionally, Wells Fargo reshuffled its Bitcoin ETF holdings and increased its stake in Strategy, signaling a broad-based accumulation approach to Ether-linked funds even amid market declines.
