SC Ventures invested in GSR, becoming its first external strategic shareholder and valuing the crypto market maker at $1B. The partnership targets tokenization and institutional digital asset infrastructure.
SC Ventures, the venture capital arm of Standard Chartered, has made a strategic investment in GSR, a leading crypto market maker and capital markets firm. This move marks SC Ventures as GSR’s first external strategic shareholder since the company’s founding in 2013. The investment reportedly values GSR at approximately $1 billion, underscoring growing institutional interest in digital asset infrastructure. The partnership aims to advance tokenization, liquidity, and institutional digital asset infrastructure. Both firms are committed to developing compliant, scalable solutions for tokenized assets and institutional digital asset markets. GSR offers market making, over-the-counter trading, advisory, asset management, and liquidity services. The firm has recently expanded its capabilities through acquisitions and the launch of its Crypto Core3 ETF. This collaboration builds on their growing relationship, including GSR’s recent investment in Libeara, a tokenization platform backed by SC Ventures. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
