Strategy’s $2.54B Bitcoin purchase sets corporate record

Strategy bought 34,164 BTC for $2.54B, raising its total to 815,061 BTC worth $63.46B. This record purchase makes it the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, with holdings now in profit.

Strategy, also known as MicroStrategy, made a major Bitcoin purchase between April 13 and 19, acquiring 34,164 BTC for approximately $2.54 billion at an average price of $74,395 per coin. This is the company’s largest single-week purchase in 17 months, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 815,061 BTC, valued at a record $63.46 billion as of April 26. The acquisition was funded through $2.18 billion from STRF perpetual preferred equity and $366 million from at-the-market sales of MSTR shares. The company’s average cost per Bitcoin now stands at about $75,528, with current spot prices putting its unrealized gain at roughly $1.9 billion. While Bitcoin’s rally has made these holdings profitable, the company’s shares have not matched this recovery. Strategy now holds about three-quarters of all Bitcoin held by corporate treasury vehicles, surpassing BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust. Market watchers expect further accumulation and are closely monitoring regulatory developments and Federal Reserve signals for potential impacts on Bitcoin adoption and price.
