Tesla maintained its Bitcoin holdings at 11,509 BTC throughout the first quarter of 2026, with no purchases or sales during the period. The company reported a post-tax impairment loss of $173 million on its digital assets, following Bitcoin’s price drop from nearly $90,000 at the start of the year to around $68,000 by the end of March. Despite this accounting loss, Tesla’s total assets increased to $143.7 billion, while its cash and short-term investments rose to $44.7 billion, reflecting strong liquidity. Tesla’s stock climbed 4% in after-hours trading after the company beat earnings estimates. Tesla reported revenue of $22.39 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.41, both surpassing expectations. The fair value of Tesla’s Bitcoin holdings was approximately $880 million at the end of the quarter, based on a Bitcoin price near $78,000.
