OCBC launches tokenized gold fund on blockchain
OCBC, Lion Global Investors, and DigiFT launched GOLDX, a tokenized gold fund on Ethereum and Solana, offering institutional investors direct, blockchain-based access to physical gold.
OCBC, in partnership with Lion Global Investors and DigiFT, has launched GOLDX, Southeast Asia’s first tokenized physical gold fund. This innovative product is available on both Ethereum and Solana blockchains, providing institutional and accredited investors with access to the LionGlobal Singapore Physical Gold Fund, which managed approximately $525 million in assets as of mid-April. Investors can subscribe to GOLDX using fiat or stablecoins, with tokens delivered directly to their blockchain wallets. These tokens are redeemable for fiat or stablecoins, and each represents a direct claim on physical gold securely stored in audited vaults. This structure offers exposure to gold price movements while leveraging blockchain benefits such as enhanced liquidity, transparency, and programmability. The dual-chain approach maximizes accessibility, utilizing Ethereum’s deep liquidity and Solana’s lower transaction fees. Fully regulated and anchored by MAS-regulated entities, this initiative underscores the growing convergence of traditional finance and blockchain technology.
