Winklevoss Capital moves $43M in Bitcoin, signals accumulation
Winklevoss Capital moved 572 BTC ($42.77M) from Gemini to custody wallets, signaling renewed accumulation after holdings hit a 12-year low. Their crypto portfolio now totals about $853M amid Gemini's financial struggles.
Winklevoss Capital, associated with Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, recently transferred 572 BTC—valued at approximately $42.77 million—from a Gemini exchange hot wallet to custodial addresses in two separate transactions within a single day. The first transfer involved 372 BTC, followed by a second movement of 200 BTC about 11 hours later. This marks the first significant inflow to their custodial wallets in over a month, partially reversing previous outflows that had reduced their Bitcoin holdings to the lowest level since 2012. Following these transactions, Winklevoss Capital now holds 9,328 BTC (worth roughly $689–$693 million) and 70,588 ETH (valued at $163–$165 million), bringing their total crypto portfolio to around $853–$858 million. The transfers come as Gemini faces financial challenges, including a reported loss of over 50% of its market value in 2026, staff layoffs, and market withdrawals. These moves are seen as a sign of renewed accumulation and long-term confidence in Bitcoin, as shifting assets off exchanges often signals reduced short-term selling pressure.
