Goldman Sachs plans Bitcoin Premium Income ETF

Goldman Sachs plans a Bitcoin Premium Income ETF, offering exposure via ETPs and income from options strategies, targeting investors seeking steady yield over price gains.

Goldman Sachs has submitted an application to U.S. regulators to launch a Bitcoin Premium Income Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF). This ETF is designed to give investors exposure to bitcoin by investing in bitcoin-linked exchange-traded products (ETPs) and generating income through an options-based premium strategy. Rather than holding bitcoin directly, the fund will reference listed Bitcoin ETPs and sell options tied to these products. The premiums collected from these options can be distributed as income to investors. This method is similar to covered call strategies commonly used in equity income funds, trading some potential upside for a more consistent yield. The move reflects increasing institutional demand for structured crypto investment products and follows similar efforts by other asset managers like BlackRock. Goldman Sachs will utilize a Cayman Islands subsidiary to meet regulatory requirements related to commodity holdings.
