Coinbase and MarketVector unveil dynamic Bitcoin-gold index
MarketVector and Coinbase launched an index tracking Bitcoin and tokenized gold, dynamically adjusting allocations based on volatility to offer exposure to both digital and traditional store-of-value assets.
MarketVector Indexes and Coinbase Asset Management have introduced the Coinbase Store of Value Index, a new benchmark tracking both Bitcoin and tokenized gold. This index aims to capture shifting investor strategies for capital preservation amid rising global debt and persistent inflation. The index uses a dynamic, rules-based allocation method, adjusting the weighting between Bitcoin and gold according to their relative volatility, rather than a fixed ratio. This approach seeks to balance Bitcoin’s growth potential with gold’s historical stability, providing exposure to both digital and traditional store-of-value assets. Rebalanced quarterly and calculated in US dollars, the index targets retail and institutional investors seeking diversified, risk-adjusted returns. Its launch comes as Bitcoin’s correlation with equities rises and gold outperforms, fueling debate over each asset’s role as a store of value.
