Ethereum Foundation stakes $46M, signals strategic shift

The Ethereum Foundation staked a record 22,517 ETH ($46M), shifting from selling to yield generation. This move aims for stable funding, boosts security, and signals strong confidence in Ethereum’s proof-of-stake model.

The Ethereum Foundation has made its largest-ever staking transaction, depositing 22,517 ETH—worth over $46 million—into the Beacon Chain on March 30, 2026. This marks a strategic pivot from selling ETH to generating yield through staking, aiming for more stable and predictable funding for research, ecosystem development, and community grants. With its treasury now exceeding 270,000 ETH, the Foundation plans to stake up to 70,000 ETH in total. It will leverage advanced validation technologies to enhance both security and decentralization across the network. This significant staking activity signals strong confidence in Ethereum’s proof-of-stake model and is expected to bolster the network’s long-term stability. The move also addresses concerns about sell-side pressure and reflects a broader trend of growing institutional interest in digital asset yields, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to the Ethereum ecosystem.
