Strategy nears $54B in Bitcoin with record purchases

Strategy holds 761,068 BTC ($54B) and is nearing its second-largest quarterly purchase, acquiring 89,618 BTC in 2026, despite a 20% Bitcoin price drop. Its buying is driven by capital, not price changes.

Strategy, renowned for its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition, has accumulated 761,068 BTC—about 3.6% of the total supply—valued at roughly $54 billion with Bitcoin trading above $70,000. The company is on track for its second-largest quarterly purchase, having acquired 89,618 BTC since January 2026, even as Bitcoin’s price fell 20% and its own stock declined 15%. The only larger accumulation occurred in Q4 2024, when Strategy bought 194,180 BTC, including three of its five largest single purchases in November as Bitcoin’s price surged. Recent acquisitions have been partly funded by sales of its perpetual preferred offering, Stretch (STRC), though this method has paused as STRC’s price failed to reach its $100 par value. Strategy’s approach remains systematic and is driven by capital availability rather than short-term price movements. Its major purchases often coincide with periods of high market volatility.
