Tether leads $7.5M round for USDT payments on Bitcoin
Utexo raised $7.5M, led by Tether, to build infrastructure for seamless USDT payments on Bitcoin and Lightning, streamlining stablecoin transactions and boosting Bitcoin’s utility.
Utexo, a cryptocurrency infrastructure startup, has raised $7.5 million in a funding round co-led by Tether, Big Brain Holdings, and Portal Ventures. Additional investors include Franklin Templeton, Maven11 Capital, and Fulgur Ventures. The funding will support the development of native payment infrastructure for seamless USDT (Tether) stablecoin transactions directly on the Bitcoin blockchain and Lightning Network. Utexo’s solution enables USDT to settle natively on Bitcoin, leveraging its security and providing production-ready payment rails for businesses. The platform offers a unified API for payment operators, eliminating the need to change custody, compliance workflows, or user experience. Transactions are settled atomically and privately in under one second, with fixed fees disclosed in advance and paid in USDT. This initiative aims to empower businesses to conduct fast, secure, and efficient dollar-denominated payments on Bitcoin, advancing mainstream adoption of stablecoin payments.
