Coinbase Snaps Up Solana DEX Vector to Boost Meme Coin Trading
Coinbase is acquiring Solana-based trading platform Vector, integrating its technology and team to expand decentralized trading, boost meme coin access, and strengthen Solana support as part of its “everything exchange” strategy.
Coinbase has announced the acquisition of Vector, a Solana-based decentralized trading platform known for its mobile-first, social trading features and focus on meme coin markets. The deal, expected to close by the end of 2025, will see Vector’s technology and team integrated into Coinbase’s consumer trading division, with the standalone Vector app set to wind down. This move is part of Coinbase’s broader strategy to become an “everything exchange,” expanding access to decentralized trading, improving speed and liquidity, and strengthening its presence in the rapidly growing Solana ecosystem. Vector’s infrastructure, which can instantly detect and support new Solana assets, will be incorporated into Coinbase’s DEX features, enabling users to access emerging tokens and meme coins more efficiently. The acquisition marks Coinbase’s ninth deal of the year and reflects the company’s commitment to scaling its onchain trading capabilities amid a surge in crypto-sector mergers and acquisitions. The integration is expected to enhance user experience, provide faster access to new tokens, and improve execution quality for onchain traders within Coinbase’s expanding platform.
