Coinbase unveils commission-free stock trading
Coinbase now offers commission-free stock and ETF trading to all U.S. users, integrating equities and crypto. The launch includes a Yahoo Finance partnership and a free Coinbase One trial.
Coinbase has expanded its platform to offer stock and exchange-traded fund (ETF) trading for all U.S. users, moving beyond cryptocurrencies to become a multi-asset "everything exchange." Users can now buy and sell thousands of U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs alongside crypto, with trading available 24 hours a day, five days a week, and no commission fees. Fractional shares start at just $1, and trades can be funded with U.S. dollars or USDC. This launch follows a limited equities rollout in December and is part of Coinbase’s strategy to unify digital and traditional assets on one platform. To enhance the experience, Coinbase has partnered with Yahoo Finance, which now features a "Trade on Coinbase" button on its asset pages. This integration allows users to execute trades directly from research pages and view real-time price data and Coinbase account balances. To encourage adoption, Coinbase is offering a one-month free trial of Coinbase One with zero trading fees. This move positions Coinbase in direct competition with established retail brokerages and highlights the growing trend of integrating traditional financial products within crypto platforms.
