Barry Silbert sees Bitcoin capital moving to privacy coins

Barry Silbert expects up to 10% of Bitcoin capital to move to privacy coins like Zcash, citing their stronger growth potential and appeal to investors seeking anonymity.

Barry Silbert, founder of Digital Currency Group, predicts that 5% to 10% of Bitcoin's capital could move to privacy-focused cryptocurrencies like Zcash in the coming years. Speaking at Bitcoin Investor Week in New York, Silbert noted that while he remains optimistic about Bitcoin as a core portfolio asset, its growth is constrained by its size and the transparency of its transactions. He highlighted that increased regulatory scrutiny and advances in blockchain analytics further limit Bitcoin’s upside. In contrast, Silbert pointed to privacy and AI-driven projects such as Zcash and Bittensor as offering far greater growth potential, with possible returns of 500 to 1,000 times. Silbert also stated that Bitcoin is unlikely to adopt significant privacy features, making privacy coins increasingly attractive for investors seeking both anonymity and higher returns.
