Cango sells $305M in Bitcoin to fund AI infrastructure shift

Cango sold 4,451 Bitcoin for $305M to repay loans and fund a strategic shift to AI computing, reducing risk and marking its largest Bitcoin sale.

Cango has completed a significant sale of 4,451 Bitcoin, raising about $305 million. The proceeds were used to repay Bitcoin-backed loans, substantially lowering the company’s leverage and financial risk. This decision aligns with a broader industry trend, as miners adapt to tougher post-halving economics and shrinking profitability. After reviewing market conditions, Cango’s board approved the sale to strengthen the balance sheet and provide capital for a strategic shift toward artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing. The company plans to repurpose its global, grid-connected mining facilities for AI computing by deploying modular GPU units, targeting growing demand from smaller businesses. While Cango remains committed to cryptocurrency mining, it is prioritizing operational efficiency and AI development. The establishment of a U.S. subsidiary, EcoHash, will accelerate this transformation and help global mining farms build adaptable AI computing grids. This marks Cango’s largest disclosed Bitcoin sale and signals a dual focus on mining and AI infrastructure.
