Metaplanet maintains Bitcoin strategy amid market downturn
Metaplanet is sticking to its Bitcoin accumulation strategy, despite sharp declines in both its stock and Bitcoin prices, and remains focused on long-term growth and revenue expansion.
Metaplanet has reiterated its commitment to a Bitcoin-centric strategy, even as its stock price and the broader cryptocurrency market experience significant declines. The company emphasized that its approach remains unchanged, with ongoing plans to accumulate Bitcoin, expand revenue streams, and position itself for future growth. Recently, Metaplanet's stock on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed down over 5%, extending a six-month decline of more than 60%. Despite Bitcoin's price falling nearly 50% from its peak and the company facing an unrealized loss of about 39% on its holdings, Metaplanet continues to build its digital treasury. Currently, the company holds 35,102 BTC at an average acquisition cost of $107,716. Leadership acknowledged the challenging environment for shareholders but stressed that short-term volatility will not alter its long-term strategy. In the last quarter of 2025, Metaplanet acquired approximately $451 million worth of Bitcoin, underscoring its commitment to a Bitcoin-first business model.
