ETHZilla to tokenize $4.7M home loans, expanding real estate
ETHZilla acquired $4.7M in home loans to tokenize on Ethereum Layer-2, offering yield-bearing tokens via Liquidity.io. This diversifies its treasury and expands real-world asset tokenization.
ETHZilla has acquired a $4.7 million portfolio of 95 manufactured and modular home loans, marking a strategic expansion into real estate tokenization. The company intends to tokenize these loans on an Ethereum Layer-2 network, transforming them into cash-flow-generating digital tokens to be offered through the regulated platform Liquidity.io. These loans are secured by first-lien mortgages and are projected to yield approximately 10% annually. ETHZilla views this move as a natural extension of its tokenization strategy, capitalizing on the predictable cash flows and strong collateral provided by manufactured housing loans. This initiative comes after a significant downturn in ETHZilla’s core crypto holdings and reflects a broader plan to diversify its treasury by allocating capital to onchain representations of real-world assets. ETHZilla has also invested in Zippy, a manufactured home lender, and previously acquired jet engines for tokenization, underscoring its commitment to expanding the tokenization of physical assets.
