Coinbase joins Trump Accounts, plans Bitcoin contributions

Coinbase will match the $1,000 Trump Accounts deposit for eligible employees’ children, contributing in Bitcoin. The program promotes early investment and financial literacy for U.S. children born 2025–2028.

Coinbase has announced its participation in the Trump Accounts program, which offers a $1,000 government-backed investment account for U.S. children born between 2025 and 2028. For eligible children of its employees, Coinbase plans to match the federal government’s $1,000 deposit, but intends to make its contribution in Bitcoin rather than traditional assets. This initiative aligns Coinbase with other major employers supporting the program, which aims to foster early investment habits and financial literacy among young Americans. The Trump Accounts, created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, are tax-advantaged and require investment in low-fee, diversified U.S. stock index funds managed by private firms. Funds remain locked until the beneficiary turns 18. Coinbase’s involvement is positioned both as an employee benefit and as a demonstration of its support for financial security initiatives for future generations.
