Tether’s Bold Move: Investment in Ledn Fuels Bitcoin Lending Boom

Tether has invested in Ledn to expand bitcoin-backed lending, enabling borrowers to access credit without selling digital assets. Ledn has issued over $2.8 billion in loans and reports strong growth in 2025.

Tether has made a strategic investment in Ledn, a prominent bitcoin-backed lending platform, to expand access to credit for individuals and businesses without requiring the sale of digital assets. Ledn, which has originated over $2.8 billion in bitcoin-backed loans—including more than $1 billion in 2025 alone—operates with advanced custody, risk management, and liquidation systems to safeguard client assets. In the third quarter of 2025, Ledn issued $392 million in loans, nearly matching its entire 2024 volume, and now reports annual recurring revenue exceeding $100 million. The partnership aims to provide borrowers with flexible liquidity solutions by allowing them to use bitcoin as collateral, supporting wealth preservation and financial resilience. The crypto-backed lending sector is projected to grow significantly, with forecasts suggesting an increase from $7.8 billion in 2024 to over $60 billion by 2033. Ledn’s fully collateralized model, regular third-party Proof of Reserves attestations, and operation through regulated entities have contributed to its resilience and growth. The collaboration positions both Tether and Ledn to lead innovation and expand credit access as demand for alternative lending models using digital assets continues to rise.
