Figure Technology Solutions has launched the On-Chain Public Equity Network (OPEN), a blockchain-based platform enabling companies to issue and trade real equity directly on-chain. Unlike traditional tokenized stock offerings, OPEN registers actual ownership on the Provenance blockchain, bypassing intermediaries such as brokers, custodians, and clearinghouses. The platform allows for direct peer-to-peer stock lending and borrowing, reducing reliance on prime brokers and enabling real-time settlement. Investors can purchase shares using cryptocurrencies and benefit from features like portfolio margining and transparent stock loan economics. Figure will be the first issuer to use OPEN, with plans for a non-dilutive secondary equity offering.
