SBI Crypto to shut down Bitcoin mining pool in 2026
SBI Crypto will close its Bitcoin mining pool on July 31, 2026, impacting 2.2% of the network’s hash rate. Miners are advised to migrate to other pools for uninterrupted operations.
SBI Crypto, the cryptocurrency division of Japan’s SBI Holdings, will discontinue its Bitcoin mining pool operations on July 31, 2026, after more than five years of activity. The company will stop accepting mining shares on the same date and urges miners to continue directing their hashrate to the pool until the final day to ensure accurate payouts. Launched in March 2021, SBI Crypto’s pool currently ranks 12th globally, accounting for about 2.2%–2.24% of the total Bitcoin network hash rate, or roughly 21.46 exahashes per second. Although no specific reason for the closure was provided, the move suggests a strategic shift toward other crypto ventures, such as exchange management and stablecoin infrastructure. Miners are encouraged to migrate to alternative pools like Braiins, Luxor, and NeoPool, with some operators potentially offering special programs for those transitioning from SBI Crypto. The company expressed gratitude to its miners and emphasized the importance of maintaining hashrate until the end for accurate payout calculations.
