Uncharted and Fishing Frenzy shut down: refunds and rewards
Uncharted will close and shut down Fishing Frenzy on June 25. Refunds and USDC rewards will be distributed to the community based on Karma scores.
Crypto gaming studio Uncharted has announced it will cease operations, leading to the shutdown of its flagship Web3 game, Fishing Frenzy, on June 25 at 2:00 a.m. UTC. This decision comes after a year of testing different audiences and product directions, but the team was unable to achieve a sustainable product-market fit for its crypto gaming model. Ahead of the shutdown, Uncharted has disabled in-game trading for related tokens and gift packs, made the FISH token spend-only and untradable, and ended USDC package sales. The studio has distributed $62,845 in USDC to community members and refunded $7,021 in player purchases, with payouts based on Karma scores reflecting community participation. All USDC from the FISH/USDC liquidity pool will be redistributed to community members and stakers according to Karma scores, with a snapshot taken on June 15. Proof of Distribution rewards will also be sent directly to the community. Uncharted urges liquidity providers to contact Discord support for assistance before operations conclude.
