OpenSea delays SEA token launch, cuts fees for 60 days

OpenSea has delayed its SEA token launch due to market volatility, ending its rewards campaign and offering fee refunds. Trading fees will be 0% for 60 days from March 31 to support users and platform activity.

OpenSea has officially postponed the launch of its highly anticipated SEA token, citing challenging and volatile crypto market conditions as the main reason. Originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, the rollout will now take place at an unspecified later date to ensure a successful debut. As part of this update, OpenSea will end its current rewards campaign, with the ongoing rewards wave being the last. Users who participated in rewards waves three through six can request refunds of platform fees. However, accepting a refund will remove any associated "Treasure" rewards from their accounts. Those who keep their Treasures will remain eligible for allocations at the token generation event. To support users and maintain competitiveness, OpenSea will reduce its token trading fees to 0% for 60 days starting March 31. After this period, a new fee structure will be introduced. The company emphasized its commitment to launching the SEA token under optimal conditions and plans to provide a clearer timeline for the new launch date soon.
