BNB Chain burns $1.27B in tokens, supply nears 136M

BNB Chain’s 34th quarterly burn destroyed 1.37M BNB ($1.27B), reducing supply to 136.36M and advancing toward the 100M target.

BNB Chain has completed its 34th quarterly token burn, permanently destroying about 1.37 million BNB, valued at approximately $1.27 billion. This marks the first burn of 2026 and reduces the circulating supply to 136.36 million BNB, moving closer to the long-term goal of 100 million tokens. The burn included 1,371,703.67 BNB via the Auto-Burn mechanism and 100.1 BNB through the Pioneer Burn Program. All tokens were sent to an inaccessible address, ensuring their permanent removal. The Auto-Burn system determines the burn amount based on BNB’s price and network activity, with recent upgrades increasing block production and prompting formula adjustments. Since its mainnet launch, BNB Chain has aimed to cut its supply from 200 million to 100 million tokens. Additionally, a real-time burning mechanism tied to gas fees has destroyed about 281,000 BNB since its introduction. Each quarterly burn removes roughly 1% of circulating BNB, creating predictable deflationary pressure and supporting the protocol’s tokenomics.
