Pakistan Teams Up with WLF to Pilot USD1 Stablecoin Payments
Pakistan partners with World Liberty Financial to pilot the USD1 stablecoin for cross-border payments, aiming to modernize its financial system and enhance digital payment infrastructure.
Pakistan has entered into an agreement with World Liberty Financial (WLF) to explore the use of its USD-pegged stablecoin, USD1, for cross-border payments. The partnership, which is among the first public collaborations between WLF and a sovereign nation, involves working with Pakistan’s central bank to integrate the stablecoin into the country’s regulated digital payment infrastructure. The initiative aims to modernize Pakistan’s financial system, enhance remittance processes, and promote financial inclusion. The deal is expected to be formally announced during a visit by WLF CEO Zach Witkoff to Islamabad. While details on the technical implementation and regulatory adjustments remain limited, the move reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a hub for digital finance innovation and to establish clearer frameworks for virtual assets. The pilot project could influence regional financial activities and requires further regulatory adaptation as Pakistan incorporates digital currencies into its financial landscape.
