DZ Bank Launches Regulated Crypto Platform for German Banks

DZ Bank has secured BaFin approval to launch meinKrypto, a regulated crypto trading platform for Germany's cooperative banks, supporting major cryptocurrencies and integrating with the VR Banking App.

DZ Bank has received regulatory approval from BaFin under the EU's MiCAR framework to launch its cryptocurrency trading platform, meinKrypto. This platform, developed in collaboration with Atruvia, enables Germany's cooperative banks, including Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken, to offer retail customers access to digital asset trading. Each local bank must submit its own notification to BaFin before activating the service, retaining full discretion over participation. At launch, meinKrypto will support Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Cardano, with custody managed by Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody and trade execution via EUWAX. The platform integrates into the VR Banking App, providing a self-directed investment option for users. DZ Bank's move reflects a structured and compliant approach to crypto adoption within the cooperative banking sector. Additionally, DZ Bank has joined the Qivalis consortium, which aims to introduce a regulated euro stablecoin in 2026, pending regulatory approval.
