JPMorgan Rolls Out JPM Coin on Canton Network for Real-Time Payments
JPMorgan's Kinexys will issue JPM Coin on the Canton Network in 2026, enabling real-time, regulated digital payments for institutions and expanding blockchain-based settlement and liquidity tools.
JPMorgan's blockchain division, Kinexys, is set to issue its deposit token, JPM Coin, directly on the Canton Network through a phased rollout beginning in 2026. This move marks the second major blockchain deployment for JPM Coin, following its launch on Base. The Canton Network, developed by Digital Asset and supported by leading financial institutions, offers configurable privacy and is designed for institutional finance, enabling real-time, compliant, and secure money transfers. JPM Coin, backed by U.S. dollar deposits, provides a regulated alternative to stablecoins and allows near-instant issuance, transfer, and redemption within the Canton ecosystem. The integration aims to modernize institutional payments, enhance liquidity management, and streamline settlements across financial markets. Kinexys also plans to expand its digital payment offerings on Canton, including Blockchain Deposit Accounts and other tokenized tools. The initiative is part of a broader effort to synchronize assets and payments across systems, reduce settlement risk, and unlock scalable tokenized markets for both digital-native and traditional financial firms.
