DTCC Teams Up with Canton Network to Tokenize U.S. Treasuries

DTCC partners with Canton Network to tokenize U.S. Treasury securities, aiming for a 2026 rollout. The initiative seeks to modernize asset management with blockchain, boosting efficiency and compliance.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has announced a partnership with the privacy-focused Canton Network to tokenize a portion of U.S. Treasury securities held at its Depository Trust Company (DTC) subsidiary. This initiative, enabled by a recent No-Action Letter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will allow DTCC to mint digital representations of these assets on the Canton Network, a permissioned blockchain developed by Digital Asset. The project aims to bridge traditional and digital financial systems, offering enhanced efficiency, privacy, and compliance for institutional asset management. The initial rollout, targeting a minimum viable product in the first half of 2026, will operate in a controlled environment and may expand based on client interest. The Canton Network is designed to support the issuance, trading, and management of tokenized real-world assets, providing scalability and security. Following the announcement, the native token of Canton Network saw a price increase. The collaboration is seen as a significant step in modernizing market infrastructure and integrating blockchain technology into mainstream finance.
