Standard Chartered unveils crypto custody plans in Singapore
Standard Chartered will launch digital asset custody in Singapore for institutional clients, covering select cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and tokenized assets, pending regulatory approval.
Standard Chartered has announced plans to launch digital asset custody services in Singapore, targeting institutional and accredited investor corporate clients. The new service will cover selected cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world assets. Client assets will be kept segregated and protected by statutory safeguards similar to those for traditional assets. This offering is subject to regulatory approval and will operate alongside the bank’s existing Financing & Securities Services business. This setup will allow clients to manage both traditional and tokenized assets through a single platform. The bank has not yet specified which digital assets will be supported. The move follows Standard Chartered’s expansion of digital asset custody services in the UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong, as well as its acquisition of Zodia Custody’s regulated business. The initiative addresses growing institutional demand for secure, regulated custody solutions and aligns with Singapore’s status as a leading financial and innovation hub.
