Solana Foundation unveils DvP for instant settlements

Solana Foundation launched Solana DvP, an open-source program enabling instant, atomic settlement of assets and payments for institutions, reducing risk and replacing custom smart contracts.

The Solana Foundation has introduced Solana DvP, an open-source delivery-versus-payment (DvP) settlement program tailored for financial institutions. This solution provides a standardized API for simultaneous settlement of assets and payments on the Solana blockchain, reducing settlement times from days to seconds and eliminating counterparty risk. Developed with input from JPMorgan, Solana DvP replaces the need for custom smart contracts by offering a unified, reusable standard under the MIT license. This allows institutions to adopt and build upon the program without licensing fees. The program has also undergone external audits to ensure security and reliability. Solana DvP supports the expansion of tokenized assets on Solana and plans to introduce privacy features for institutional users. By enabling atomic transactions, it ensures that both sides of a trade are settled together or not at all, streamlining processes that traditionally involve multiple intermediaries and lengthy settlement periods.
