IBM and Swift enable 24/7 tokenized deposits via blockchain
IBM and Swift enable banks to manage tokenized deposits 24/7 via blockchain, using standard payment messages and existing workflows. An on-premises beta enhances secure digital asset management for regulated institutions.
IBM has integrated its Digital Asset Haven platform with Swift’s blockchain-based shared ledger. This enables financial institutions to manage tokenized deposit transactions using standard ISO 20022 payment messages and existing compliance processes. Clients can now connect to permissioned blockchain networks and perform 24/7 digital asset transfers, with final settlements processed through current financial systems. Seventeen banks are piloting tokenized deposits on the Swift ledger, which was developed in collaboration with over 40 financial institutions and connects more than 12,500 entities worldwide. IBM is also offering an on-premises beta deployment of Digital Asset Haven, allowing regulated institutions to manage digital assets such as stablecoins and tokenized deposits within their own data centers. This initiative streamlines the adoption of tokenized assets by leveraging established banking infrastructure, enabling familiar operational workflows and enhanced security, rather than requiring new blockchain-specific processes.
