NYSE tests Avalanche for tokenized securities platform
NYSE has tested Avalanche blockchain for tokenized securities over the past year. While the partnership with Ava Labs has strengthened, no official decision on platform adoption has been made.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has spent the past year collaborating with Ava Labs to test Avalanche blockchain technology. This initiative aims to evaluate Avalanche’s suitability for tokenized securities trading and settlement. The assessment covers both technical and economic aspects, with NYSE and its parent company, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), examining whether Avalanche meets their business and operational needs. Although the partnership between NYSE and Ava Labs has grown stronger, no official decision has been made regarding the adoption of Avalanche for NYSE’s planned platform. The envisioned system would integrate NYSE’s Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based post-trade infrastructure, enabling 24/7 trading and instant settlement of tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, subject to regulatory approval. ICE representatives noted that Avalanche meets many of their requirements, but emphasized that the evaluation process is ongoing and no formal commitment has been made.
