Tradeweb makes history with real-time on-chain U.S. Treasury trade

Tradeweb completed the first real-time on-chain U.S. Treasury trade against USDCx on Canton Network, enabling instant atomic settlement and marking a milestone for tokenized asset trading.

Tradeweb has executed the first real-time, on-chain transaction involving a tokenized U.S. Treasury security against tokenized cash (USDCx) on the Canton Network. In this landmark trade, Franklin Templeton transferred a tokenized U.S. Treasury to Virtu Financial in exchange for USDCx. Tradeweb provided the execution platform and price discovery, while the Canton Network enabled synchronized, atomic settlement. The transaction settled instantly, eliminating traditional settlement lags and market cutoffs, and did not rely on off-ledger cash. Key participants included Blockdaemon, Digital Asset, Franklin Templeton, Societe Generale, Tradeweb, and Virtu Financial. This event demonstrates the operational efficiency and integration of blockchain technology in institutional finance. It highlights the growing market for tokenized U.S. Treasuries and signals broader adoption of real-time, on-chain settlement for real-world assets.
